Les Jardins de Métis are opening the Gardens to the public for a special winter visit and afternoon of music on Sunday, March 10 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Given the popularity of the event last year (where more than 400 visitors strapped on their snowshoes to wander the winter gardens), it did not take much to convince us to host an event again this year. The first event in this year at the Reford Gardens, Winter Wonderland allows visitors to see behind the cedar hedges and discover the beauty of the gardens in winter. The Winter Wonderland visit will begin at 12 noon. Tracks will be prepared to allow visitors to tour the gardens on snowshoes (please, no cross-country skis). With the help of the Metis Beach School and Ville de Mont-Joli, snowshoes will be available free of charge (note, quantities are limited). Sponsored by Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence, La Queue du Loup makes a welcome return to provide music to get you moving (from 1:30 p.m.). Chef Pierre-Olivier will prepare hot chocolate and refreshments for those seeking a hot drink and some respite from the cold. A voluntary contribution of $5 per adult is requested, to help Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence. Continue to offer bilingual cultural and health programs and activities for the community. Parking will be in the main courtyard (enter via the east driveway). For more information, consult our Facebook www.facebook.com/jardinsdemetis, or website, www.jardinsdemetis.com. Don’t forget your snowshoes and your camera! This event is made possible with the collaboration and generous support of Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence, the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux du Bas-Saint-Laurent, Canadian Heritage, the English-Language Arts Network, Metis Beach School and the Ville de Mont-Joli.
