Reford Gardens (Les Jardins de Métis) will be featured on a special program to be broadcast on the series Le tour du jardin on Sunday, February 12 at 6 pm. The program host actress Geneviève Rioux tours Les Jardins de Métis director, Alexander Reford, who unveils some of the secrets of the gardens and presents the rare and unusual plants that form part of the collection. Horticulturist Albert Mondor offers practical advice for amateur gardeners and presents several of the gardens’ most popular and difficult plants. Historian Martin Fournier delves into the past and chronicles the life of Elsie Reford and her team of gardeners who built the garden in the 1920s. The program offers viewers an opportunity to learn more about plants and the secrets of their cultivation and enjoy a tour of the gardens in the bright sun and perfect skies of the Gaspésie. Filming took place on July 4 and July 5 last summer. Since then, the Historia team have explored the Gardens’ extensive archive of photographs and historic documents to complete their documentary. Le tour du jardin, broadcast on the Historia network in Québec and across Canada since 2010, offers viewers an opportunity to visit the best public and private gardens in Québec and Canada.
